Annual Lifeboat Inspection is the yearly inspection of a ship’s lifeboat, carried out to ensure that the lifeboat and all associated systems are in safe and fully operational condition for emergency use.
To comply with SOLAS, IMO, and Flag State / Classification Society requirements
To detect damage, wear, or malfunction
To ensure the lifeboat can be safely launched, operated, and used for rescue
Hull & Structure
Cracks, corrosion, water ingress .
Condition of hatches, doors, seats, and safety belts .
Launching & Suspension System
Davits, wire ropes, sheaves .
Brakes and hook release system .
Smooth and safe operation .
Engine & Steering System
Engine test run .
Fuel and lubrication system .
Steering and propeller condition .
Lifeboat Equipment
Lifejackets, oars .
Compass, lights, batteries .
Drinking water, rations, first-aid kit .
Pyrotechnics (within validity period) .
Safety & Communication Equipment
Radio equipment, SART (if fitted) .
Fire extinguisher .
Bilge pump and escape equipment .
A certified service technician authorized by:
A company approved in accordance with SOLAS requirements .
Annual Inspection Certificate / Service Report .
Record entry in the Safety Equipment Logbook .
